Welcome...
I am Dionie McNair with several alter egos: as writers, Cassandra Hawke and Emily Tyler, and as Mum, Grandma, friend and fur baby mum and just to mix it up once year, I am Father Christmas.

I was born and grew up in the seaside town of Port Lincoln in South Australia. I was supposed to be named Cassandra but when my life was saved at birth by a wonderful doctor named Dion I was honoured to be named Dionie instead. I now live in beautiful Adelaide, the ‘City of Churches’ and capital city of South Australia.

You are probably wondering why I have called my website The Eclectic Creative. Well, it’s a reflection of who I am and have always been: a person with a wide variety of interests, talents and abilities. I could never and still can’t seem to focus on just one thing. I don’t think I could ever be a ‘specialist’ in just one subject. I call myself a ‘jack of all trades, master of none’ but I do like to think that what I offer is of a high standard.

I began writing as a child but didn’t receive much encouragement from family or teachers so withdrew into the closet and didn’t come back out until I was 29 and wrote a 100,000 word family saga by hand then transcribed it on an old portable type writer. I finally submitted it to a publisher and received my first rejection. I finally revealed my accomplishment to a group of wonderful writers, called ‘Eyre Writers’. This was my safe haven and nourishment for my soul and my writing.

In 1995 circumstances had me embarking on a new life. I went to university and entered the workforce in the not-for-profit sector. My writing to a place on the back burner, but in 2011 when I was made redundant from a job I loved came back to my writing with fresh eyes, new experiences and enthusiasm. While caring for my aging mum I set about becoming a published author.

I now have several novels published, work in aged care and continue to turn my hand to a variety of activities.
I am the proud and inspired mother of three gown up children, and loving Grandma to four grandchildren. Spending time with family and friends as an essential part of my life.

When I have free time I enjoy creating Fabergé eggs, drawing & painting, gardening, reading, various crafts and going out for coffee or dinner.

Browse through my site, learn more about me, my view of the world through my blog, and read about my books to see if any take your fancy.

It will never be hum drum, or boring, so take a peek, drop me a line or buy a book.
Regards
Dionie
